Priyanka makes a veiled attack on BSP, BJP

AMETHI: Making a veiled attack on the BSP and BJP, Priyanka Vadra on Friday said that despite Centre's efforts electricity supply in most parts of UP continues to be a grey area. Addressing a gathering in Gauriganj, Priyanka said, "Owing to Centre's efforts, electricity poles were installed in the state and comprehensive wiring done. However, electricity, which is to be supplied by the state government, remains absent for a long duration."

She added that after the SP formed the government in UP, a request to provide power to Amethi and Rae Bareli was made to Mulayam SinghYadav, which was fulfilled in the next couple of days. "However, rival parties took this matter to the court," she said.

Priyanka claimed that most of the roads under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana were built due to her brother Rahul's intervention, but their maintenance has to be done by the state government.

Targeting BJP candidate Smriti Irani, Priyanka said, "After losing Chandni Chowk, she never went back there, and this would hold true for Amethi as well. The amount of work done by Rahulji to improve the condition of roads in Amethi by bringing them under PMGSY deserves applause. And the choice has to be made by you (voters) -- whether you want an MP who can improve the road network of the place or an individual, who would struggle to build 5km road using Rs 5 crore of MPLAD funds," she added.
