United Jamaath clarifies they are not for BJP

COIMBATORE: Coimbatore district United Jamaath condemned the AIADMK party for defaming the Jamaath. The Jamaath president Basheer Ahammed claimed that they are not supporting any political party in the general elections. But AIADMK alleges that the Jamaath is supporting the BJP. This is completely false, he said.

The Jamaath general secretary A Abdul Jabbar was eliminated from the AIADMK party after BJP candidate CP Radhakrishnan met with him. The Jamaath claimed that Muslims are always against BJP and won't support any party in the general elections.

Abdul Jabber who was the functionary of AIADMK, was recently eliminated from the primary membership by party supremo J Jayalaithaa. He had presented a shawl to BJP candidate CP Radhakrishan last week while the candidate met with him during the election campaign. The photograph of the event was published in a few vernaculars daily.

Following that, Abdul Jabber was removed from the party. Meanwhile, AR Basheer Ahammed, president of the Coimbatore district United Jama -Ath met the media in the city on Monday.

"Candidates of various political parties often meet with leaders of non-political organisations requesting support. All candidates except for the AIADMK visited our Jamaath and requested support for their parties. We honoured the candidates. Likewise BJP candidate was also honoured," said Basheer Ahammed.

"AIADMK functionaries defamed our Jamaath by saying that we are supporting the BJP for the Coimbatore parliamentary constituency. Without making any enquiries, AIADMK functionaries are defaming us. We condemn them for their falsehood," said Basheer.
