Ferozepur division commissioner V K Sharma held a meeting on Saturday on the directions of the Election Commission, in which senior civil and police officials of neighbouring districts of Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh and deputy commissioners of Fazilka and Muktsar districts and Bathinda range IG Paramraj Singh Umranangal took part.
"Combined efforts are needed to ensure free and fair polling on April 30," said Sharma while instructing the officials to intensify vigil along the Rajasthan border. The commissioner said 24 route points were identified in Fazilka, which have road access to Rajasthan, and officials had been instructed to keep an eye on these routes by setting up special nakas and to videograph movement of people. "Likewise, Kandhukhera village in Muktsar, which share its border with Haryana, will also be sealed on April 28," he informed.
