VMware and Windows/Linux Administrator
Description:
Knowledgeable, creative, hardworking individual to provide exceptional customer service in a fast-paced operations environment supporting a 24x7x365 mission critical VM, Windows & Linux environment.
The system administrator is responsible for day-to-day operational maintenance, support, OS installations and upgrades for enterprise servers.
Monitor and tune systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
Experience with Enterprise Backups
On call support might be required for troubleshooting or pre-planned maintenance on production systems.
Essential Duties:
Understanding of Virtualization (VM) based technology
Windows 2003/2008/2008 R2 Server support and troubleshooting or administrative and troubleshooting knowledge of Red Hat Linux.
Creation of Windows and Linux VM templates
Load, and deploy new virtual servers from VMWare templates
Maintain Windows and Linux VM templates
VMware cluster creation
Snapshot creation, troubleshooting and deep knowledge needed
Troubleshooting VMware issues, alerts, and alarms
LUN deployment and capacity management
Work with engineers and project leads to implement new systems, policies, standards and practices.
Document VMware administration processes and procedures.
Hands-on experience with Enterprise Backups Technologies
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree with 5+ years of experience with Windows and/or Red Hat Linux operating systems.
Enterprise server management experience.
Deep knowledge of industry-standard, enterprise-class best practices for a large server environment.
Must have experience with server virtualization with specific knowledge of VMWare vSphere 5.0.
TCP/IP knowledge.
Working knowledge of Active Directory sites and service, Group Policy and DNS/DHCP, shares and permissions.
Experience with any of the following; Dell, IBM, HP Enterprise class servers, and Cisco UCS.
Preferred Additional Skills:
VPC5-DCV or equivalent preferred
MCSA, MCSE, MCTS, RHCT or RHCE certification a plus
Experience with standardizing server configurations (i.e CPU, RAM, RAID)
Experience with shell scripting and automation tools
Experience with Avocent IP KVM Technology, iDRAC, ILO, and RSA II out-of-band technologies
Strong troubleshooting skills
Experience with Data Domain, CommVault, Avamar or other backup technologies
Strong communication, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
