Head of Department-department of Blended and Distance Learning, 10 - 20 years exp, Gaborone

General Responsibilities

Report to the respective Dean.


Work to achieve the vision and mission of the institution.


Implement and build on the Quality Policy and Quality Management System of the institution.


Operational Roles and Responsibilities


Overall responsibility for Blended and Distance learning including administration, development and quality assurance of all the Virtual learning platforms across the institution including all branch centres


Develop strategies to maintain, enhance and evaluate Blended and Distance learning across all programme levels


Manage the team and work collaboratively with respective Faculty Heads and academic staff, Learning Resources Department and Technical Department to develop, maintain and manage high quality teaching and learning content for Blended and Distance learning


Ensure that all procedures and norms as required by Botho University are followed


Work with the Dean and Associate Director Quality, Technology and Research to ensure that adequate resources are available to run this department to be able to achieve the strategic goals of the Organisation laid out in this direction


To build and customise the learning platforms used for Blended and Distance learning to effectively run the intended curriculum


Plan and conduct regular staff development activities to build the skill levels of academic and other related staff in areas including content development, technology usage for teaching and administration


Perform the duties of a lecturer for a limited number of batches


Propose reviews to the programme and its assessment strategy in line with the Blended and Distance learning


Conduct regular Meetings with concerned Deans and Heads to ensure the quality and effectiveness of the teaching and learning opportunities provided through Blended and Distance learning


Should continuously upgrade his/her own skills in this area through related research and training activities and keep abreast with latest developments in the field of Blended and Distance learning


Any other roles and responsibilities that may be allocated by the Dean from time to time.


Candidates shall only be selected after a personal Interview by Human Resource Department of Botho University. An attractive remuneration package commensurate with qualification and experience will be offered to the right candidate.
