Solution Manager

The specific role of the Solution Manager is to develop the service delivery proposal solution that organization will deliver to the client. In developing the service delivery proposal, the Solution Manager must ensure integration is achieved across all domains. Strategy alignment is a vitally important part of the role. It encompasses knowledge of organization and the organization makeup required to support the many and varied activities found within the overall bid process. Solution Managers act as the single point of contact for New Business Services activities on qualified bids, and covers a variety of functions, as summarized below.


1. Pre-Sales Support / Marketing


2. Requirements Analysis and Strategy


3. Develop Solution


4. Cost Modeling


5. Proposal Preparation and Presentation


6. Solution Team Management


7. Due Diligence


8. Contract Negotiation


9. Transition Planning


10. Client Interface


Architectural knowledge in at least 4 of the following technology domains and working knowledge in remaining or majority domains.


- Enterprise Servers


- Mid-range


- Network Operating System


- Desktop, End User Products, Solution Offerings


- Storage / Backup


- Network & Security


- Systems Management


- Service Management


- Service Level Management


- Internet


- Databases


- ERP


- Should have awareness of IT trends/ Industry players.


- Understanding of project management.


- Good Presentation/Communication and Writing skills.


- Should be able to understand the clients business and technical requirements and translate them to the technology solution.


- Should have clear perspective and approach for meeting business objectives with the use of technology solutions.
