DEHRADUN: A BJYM leader and his wife were killed when their motorcycle fell into an irrigation canal at Ramnagar in Nainital district, police said on Tuesday.
BJYM's former block president Kannu kargeti (30) and his wife Himani (27) were going back home on a motorcycle on Monday evening when they met with the accident.
They were swept down the canal and their bodies were recovered from Hathidangar about eight kms from Ramnagar, they said.
They were seen falling into the canal by a child who raised an alarm. When people reached the spot they saw a motorcycle lying in the canal.
A prolonged search by the police and locals led to the recovery of the bodies at around midnight.
