ALLAHABAD: Slamming the Gujarat chief minister and Bhartiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for his remarks on Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi at the Jhansi rally, PCC member and senior Congress leader Kishore Varshney said such remarks point towards lack of self confidence in the BJP leader and his frustration.
In a statement issued on Saturday, he said that repeated attacks by the BJP leader on Nehru Gandhi family indicate that his party has no policy and vision to offer before the people. Instead, Modi is turning out to be a divisive leader who is out to disturb the social fabric of the country, he said.
Another senior Congress leader V K Dixit said that BJP leaders should maintain their dignity while issuing such statements. He said Rahul Gandhi has lost his family members for the country and he has every right to express his pain and sorrow before the society. He added that the history of BJP is not under wraps and the public is well aware that the party is only out to spread communal hatred among the people.
